Location

Back Settlement Rd. , Parish of Upham, Upperton, County of Kings, rectangular in shape, having a frontage of approximately 260 metres (985 feet) along Back Settlement Rd. which crosses the property, and a depth of 1770 metres. The remainder of the property does not have road frontage, but rather abuts other privately held lands. The area is 46 hectares or 113.7 acres.

Access

From Saint John, take Route 1 northeasterly, then Route 860, then Robinson Rd., to the intersection of Robinson Rd. and Back Settlement Rd. (a distance of about 62 kilometres). Turn left (northeast) onto Back Settlement Rd. and proceed about 1.5 kilometres to the property, which extends in a generally northwesterly and southeasterly direction.

Terrain & Vegetation

The property is almost entirely wooded except for a few small patchy clearings, and without any dwellings or other structures. Despite the name there are almost no structures along Back Settlement Rd. The land is generally sloping gently upward to the southeast, and the only wetlands are adjacent to Scoodic Brook, which crosses the property. Most of the surrounding land is a mixture of woodlands and wetlands with scattered areas of cultivated land.

Crown Land

There is no adjacent Crown Land, but there is large Crown Land tract which abuts Route 111 to the east, about 20 kilometres southeast of the property, consisting of a variety of terrain types and many streams, rivers and lakes, continuing to the Bay of Fundy.

Recreational Potential

This is a rural seaside area with many outdoor recreational activities available - fishing, canoeing, kayaking, camping, and swimming, to name just a few. On Tourism New Bruswick’s website https://tourismnewbrunswick.ca/ many activities and destinations can be found, and at the same time many of the conveniences of modern living can be accessed at nearby Saint John, which is 63 kilometres to the southwest.
